With the transfer market significantly inflated compared to 10 to 15 years ago, former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez, who led the club for six years, recently took a playful jab at one of his loyal players during an interview on The Overlap Podcast.
He remarked, “If you want to buy Gerrard and Carragher now, you pay £200m. £180m for Gerrard, £20m for Carragher.”

One fan quipped, “Everyone knows Carragher was a terrible player,” while another added, “Bro got cooked.” A third user intensified the humor, stating, “No one’s paying £20m for Carragher.”
Despite the jests, Jamie Carragher is widely regarded as one of Liverpool’s greatest players, having made over 500 appearances for the club during his 17-year career.
