Ademola Lookman’s anticipated exit from Atalanta is gathering momentum, with UEFA Champions League winners Inter Milan reportedly reaching a personal agreement with the Nigerian star, despite strong interest from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid.
The 27-year-old forward, who made headlines with his stunning performances in the 2023–24 season and was recently crowned African Player of the Year, appears set for a high-profile move this summer.
After two impactful seasons with Atalanta, Lookman is now keen on a fresh challenge, and Inter have moved swiftly to get ahead in the race for his signature.
According to Italian outlets “Corriere dello Sport” and “Sky Sport Italia”, Inter Milan have made the former RB Leipzig and Leicester City man their priority attacking target following the departures of Joaquin Correa and Marko Arnautovic.
The Nerazzurri have reportedly agreed personal terms with Lookman, who is open to joining them as they prepare for another demanding campaign on multiple fronts.
However, a major obstacle still stands in the way, Atalanta’s €50 million valuation of the player. Inter, although financially capable of completing the deal without selling any key players, are only willing to offer €40 million up front.
Despite the gap in valuation, optimism remains within the Inter camp. The club believes the cash-only proposal could convince Atalanta to enter more advanced negotiations.
Lookman’s desire to join Inter may also play a crucial role in pushing the deal through, especially as he reportedly prefers to remain in Italy rather than move to Spain.
While Atletico Madrid have also expressed serious interest in Lookman and could still make a late move, Inter’s early advantage in agreeing personal terms puts them in pole position.
The coming days are expected to be crucial as Inter look to wrap up a marquee signing that would further boost their attacking firepower ahead of the new season.
