Real Madrid Castilla defender, Marvel Antolin Garzon, popularly known as Marvel, is on the verge of a permanent move to LaLiga newcomers CD Leganes after spending nearly a decade with Los Blancos.
The 22-year-old Nigerian-Moroccan-Spanish centre-back has reportedly agreed to a three-year contract with Leganes, following a productive loan spell at Cordoba CF where he made 28 appearances last season.
His switch marks the end of a nine-year journey through the Real Madrid system, where he rose through the ranks but never managed to break into the senior team.
Marvel’s move is primarily driven by Leganes’ urgent need to reinforce their defence following a severe cruciate ligament injury to Ruben Pulido, one of the club’s key defenders.
Marvel, known for his athleticism, versatility, and composure at the back, is expected to slot in seamlessly and provide much-needed stability.
Though an official announcement is pending, Marvel was already seen training with his prospective new teammates during Sunday’s open session. The occasion was marked by a warm welcome from Leganes supporters, who formed a guard of honour for Marvel and fellow new arrivals, San Roman and Sebastian Figueredo.
A product of multiple youth academies, including Atletico Madrid, Alcala, and Rayo Vallecano, Marvel’s development at Real Madrid Castilla has made him a highly rated young defender.
His mix of technical training and physical maturity makes him a valuable addition for a club looking to cement its place in LaLiga after promotion.
Eligible to represent Nigeria through his mother, Marvel has yet to commit to any national team but remains a player of interest to the Super Eagles’ scouting radar.
