The 26-year-old had been pushing for a move to San Siro, but negotiations collapsed after Atalanta refused to budge on their €50 million valuation.

Reports confirmed that Inter’s final bid, worth around €45 million including bonuses, was turned down earlier in the summer.

On Monday, the Nerazzurri informed Atalanta that they would no longer pursue the deal, effectively ending weeks of speculation.

Lookman Back in Bergamo

Lookman, who played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s historic Europa League triumph, was pictured back in training at Zingonia on Tuesday.

His return comes just days before the start of the new Serie A season, leaving questions about how he will be reintegrated into Gian Piero Gasperini’s plans after openly seeking an exit.

Despite his desire to leave, Atalanta remained firm on their asking price, unwilling to part with their African Player of the Year for anything less than their set figure.

Future Still Uncertain

Lookman has enjoyed three successful seasons in Bergamo, establishing himself as one of Serie A’s most dangerous attackers.

However, after the collapse of the Inter move, uncertainty looms over his future. Whether he will stay motivated and continue his fine form for La Dea or push for another exit attempt in January remains to be seen.

For now, Atalanta fans will welcome back their star, though the summer saga has undoubtedly left its mark.
