Daniel Ogunmodede, head coach of Remo Stars, has etched his name in Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) history after reaching his 100th game in charge of the Sky Blue Stars.

The landmark appearance came in the club’s 2025/26 season opener against Rivers United at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex, Abeokuta. The encounter ended 1-1, with Remo Stars forced to settle for a point while their Ikenne stadium undergoes renovation.
Although the result was not the victory he had hoped for, Ogunmodede described the milestone as a moment of mixed emotions. “This is football; maybe we would have lost. So I am grateful for the point,” he said.
Journey with Remo Stars

Ogunmodede’s association with Remo Stars has been long and impactful. He joined the club in 2015 as an assistant manager and youth coach, playing a key role in their first-ever promotion to the NPFL in 2016.
His influence extended beyond the pitch as he spearheaded the club’s youth development system, leading to the establishment of the Beyond Limits Football Academy, now recognized as one of Nigeria’s leading academies.
After a brief stint in Portugal as assistant coach at CD Feirense, Ogunmodede returned to Remo Stars in 2022. Since then, he has masterminded back-to-back second-place finishes and delivered the club’s first-ever NPFL title in April 2025, the first South-West club to win the league in 25 years.
Dual Role with the Super Eagles
Beyond his club achievements, Ogunmodede also serves as an assistant coach for the Super Eagles. His tactical approach, dubbed “IjaBall,” emphasizes a proactive, possession-based style of play that has won him praise across Nigerian football.
As he celebrates this historic milestone, Ogunmodede stands as a symbol of consistency, vision, and commitment to developing Nigerian football both at club and national team level.
