Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said Darwin Nunez is a major doubt for his side’s trip to Arsenal on Sunday as the visitors look to open up an eight-point lead in the Premier League title race.

Nunez achieved a Premier League record by hitting the woodwork four times in Wednesday’s 4-1 win against Chelsea. Despite this, he’s been instrumental in the Reds’ ascent to the top of the table, contributing 11 goals and 11 assists this season. Nunez, currently dealing with a foot problem, would be a significant absence alongside the sidelined Mohamed Salah.

Klopp, discussing Nunez’s condition, mentioned post-match pain and swelling, but fortunately, no fractures were found in the x-ray. Diogo Jota, stepping up in Salah’s absence, has been praised by Klopp for his versatility, netting four times in the last four games, showcasing his capabilities across all three forward positions.

Liverpool is poised to bid farewell to Klopp on a triumphant note, currently holding a five-point lead over Arsenal and Manchester City, who have a game in hand. The Reds are contenders for three additional trophies in the League Cup, FA Cup, and Europa League. A victory over Arsenal could deal a severe blow to the Gunners’ title aspirations.

However, Klopp remains wary of the persistent threat posed by City, emphasizing the need to win consistently to compete with their formidable performance in the league.
