Jamie Carragher supports Liverpool to emerge victorious in the upcoming Carabao Cup final, even as Chelsea secures a surprising point against Manchester City.
The Blues approached their visit to the Premier League leaders with minimal expectations, yet Raheem Sterling’s late first-half goal propelled them ahead. A resilient defensive display after halftime showcased a backs-to-the-wall masterclass. Although Rodri’s equalizer came eight minutes from the end, the performance instills confidence as they prepare for next week’s pivotal event at Wembley.
Despite an impressive showing by Mauricio Pochettino’s men at the Etihad, Carragher maintains that the advantage lies with Liverpool. The Reds legend acknowledges the potential for a closely contested match, emphasizing that the Blues have effectively cautioned Jurgen Klopp’s side about the prowess of their counter-attacking capabilities.

It seems like Chelsea’s performance against Man City has boosted confidence, and Carragher believes it could carry into the cup final. Pochettino acknowledges the challenge but is optimistic about gaining momentum. Liverpool’s injuries might make the final tight, but Carragher gives them a slight edge.
“For us this was a really important game to keep the momentum, to realise that we are in a good way, improving. Still we are not at the level of Manchester City but that is our aim,” Pochettino said.
“We are a very young team that needs to live these kind of games to improve and to create the spirit that we need to show in every single game. Football is not only about quality, it is about being competitive.
“Today the team began to show that we can be competitive also and play well. Today was a great performance. We scored first and the first half was a very good game. I’m so pleased and I told the players this and congratulate them because the effort was massive”.
