Osimhen vs Vlahovic: Former Italian winger reveals why Super Eagles striker is better

Former Italian winger Oscar Damiani strongly believes that Napoli’s Victor Osimhen surpasses Juventus’ Dušan Vlahović as a striker.

Osimhen’s exceptional performance in the previous season, where he scored an impressive 26 league goals, led Napoli to their first Scudetto title in 33 years, making him the standout player in Italy.

However, the 26-year-old striker’s involvement for Napoli this season has been limited due to injuries and his participation in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, resulting in only 11 Serie A goals so far.

Vlahovic shines

Vlahović has grabbed headlines in Italy with 15 goals in 23 Serie A appearances this season. Despite Vlahović’s goal-scoring prowess, Damiani maintains that the Super Eagles striker remains the superior forward.

Damiani points out that while Vlahović primarily contributes goals to Juventus, Osimhen offers a more dynamic and all-action display for Napoli.

Osimhen’s return

The Napoli striker’s recent return from the AFCON has seen him score in each of his last three games for Napoli, further reinforcing his impact on the pitch.

“Between Osimhen and Vlahovic, I always choose the first,” Damiani said, as per Tutto Napoli.

“The Nigerian is one of the strongest attackers in the world; he is a force of nature. Vlahovic has scored many goals, but in terms of participation, he is not very high level, even if he is a great striker.”

Juventus and Napoli will be playing against each other in the Serie A this weekend, with both strikers leading the lines for their respective clubs.
