A report from OwnGoalNigeria suggests that the NFF has presented an improved contract offer to Coach Peseiro, signaling their eagerness to retain his services.

Jose Peseiro improved contract

The report emphasizes that the NFF has extended an improved contract offer to the 63-year-old coach, having been unable to reach an agreement before the expiration of his previous contract.

Coach Peseiro is reportedly seeking a salary in the range of $120,000, along with compensation for his first assistant. This represents a substantial increase from the $50,000 he received under his previous contract.

In response, the NFF has reportedly proposed a contract in the vicinity of $80,000 to the former Real Madrid assistant manager.

It is mentioned that this offer has the backing of the current Minister of Sports, John Enoh, who maintains a close relationship with Peseiro.

The report concludes by highlighting that Peseiro has not yet responded to the latest offer, leaving open the possibility that he may decline it as he evaluates alternative opportunities from various African countries.

List of managers speculated to replace Jose Peseiro

In a separate report, Sports Brief outlined a roster of Nigerian coaches who might step into the role left vacant by Peseiro’s contract expiration.

Among the candidates is the current assistant coach of the Super Eagles, Finidi George, alongside several other managers recognized for their tactical acumen.

The former Sporting CP coach officially declared the end of his tenure as the Super Eagles’ coach as his contract expired on March 1.
