Mauricio Pochettino Directs Chelsea Players to Approach Todd Boehly if They Seek His Removal
Mauricio Pochettino, facing mounting pressure amid Chelsea’s disappointing season, has directed his players to approach Todd Boehly if they wish for his dismissal.
With the Blues languishing in 11th place in the Premier League and struggling to secure European qualification, Pochettino’s position has come under scrutiny.
After chants against him were heard during the draw with Brentford, Pochettino’s response has taken a surprising turn.
Pochettino’s words
Ahead of Chelsea’s match against Newcastle, Pochettino publicly acknowledged the possibility of his players seeking a coaching change, suggesting they could discuss their concerns with the owner or sporting director.
According to reports from TheMirror, Pochettino stated, “Look, I respect Jose, he is my friend. He was amazing for this club, his medals here are amazing.
We need to be pushing and believe in us and accept the things that come from the fans. If the players believe that with another coach they can do better… maybe they can talk with the owner or sporting director.
You need to ask the players. You can ask. Do you see me worried about this? No. Is it a problem of attitude? No. It is a problem? No. You can see in the way that they behave that they are behind us. Of course there is no doubt.”
Pochettino is prioritizing his team’s preparation ahead of their crucial clash with Newcastle, choosing to focus on their own performance rather than dwelling too much on the opposition’s tactics.
Despite their previous defeat to Newcastle, Pochettino believes that a victory over them would be pivotal in their pursuit of European football next season.
“The most important thing is to work on us,” Pochettino emphasized. “I am concentrated on our performance and the way we are going to deal, now, without two or three starters from the last game.”
With injuries impacting the squad, Pochettino is considering different strategies to cope with the challenges they face.
He mentioned the potential arrival of Marc Cucurella and the need to adapt their playing style accordingly.
“We have been focused in the last three days on providing the team the best balance with all the possibility to be consistent and perform in the way we need to perform,” Pochettino explained.
“Of course, we know Newcastle and can assess Newcastle, but the most important thing is the balance we are going to find the balance in the team, be consistent and perform in the way we need to perform.”
