Chelsea Legend Frank Leboeuf didn’t mince his words in his evaluation of his ex-club following their frustrating 2-2 draw against a 10-man Burnley side, delivering a scathing critique of the board and criticizing the current players for their apparent lack of passion and intelligence.
The Blues missed out on claiming victory against Burnley, settling for a draw after being pulled back.
Pochettino’s squad has faced scrutiny for their displays this season, resulting in an 11th place standing in the Premier League table.
Chelsea legend Le Beouf’s criticism
In an exclusive interview with ESPN, Leboeuf didn’t hold back, saying, “Sorry, but the people on the board have destroyed this club. That’s what you have to face. How do you rebuild that? I don’t know, it’s going to take a long time.”
Further expressing his frustrations, he added, “I’ve talked about it a lot and I’m fed up repeating myself… as long as you don’t have people to rely on, meaning experienced players, you can’t build anything. This is what you face when you’re trying to build an Academy team.”
Leboeuf particularly targeted co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, alleging that they have presided over Chelsea’s downturn since assuming control in 2022.
He voiced his disapproval of the club’s transfer strategy, commenting on their approach.
“Chelsea’s transfer spending has climbed above £1billion during the duo’s four transfer windows in charge, but improvements haven’t followed with the Blues stuck in 11th in the Premier League standings.”, he said.
