Arsenal’s Attack Under Fire: Piers Morgan Blames Arteta, Champions Cristiano Ronaldo as the Answer
Arsenal’s stuttering Premier League title challenge has come under fresh scrutiny, with broadcaster Piers Morgan criticizing manager Mikel Arteta’s transfer strategy.
Morgan: Arsenal Lacking a “Proper Striker”
Following Arsenal’s disappointing 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa, Morgan took to social media to express his frustration. He argued that the Gunners’ lack of a proven goalscorer is their biggest weakness.
“Arsenal’s lack of a proper striker has come back to haunt us,” Morgan wrote in a post. He pointed to the Gunners’ struggles in converting chances during the match against Villa, contrasting their performance with the clinical finishing shown by Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins.
Cristiano Ronaldo to the Rescue?
According to The Sun, Morgan believes that signing a prolific goalscorer is the key to Arsenal’s title ambitions. He proposed a surprising solution – bringing in veteran striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
“I think ro would score 25+ goals a season in our team with the service he’d get,” Morgan claimed. He criticized Arteta for not prioritizing a top striker, calling it the manager’s “one major blindspot.”
This suggestion comes amidst Ronaldo’s impressive goalscoring form in Saudi Arabia’s Pro League. The 39-year-old currently leads the league’s scoring charts with 29 goals in 25 games, including two consecutive hat-tricks.
A Controversial Solution
While Ronaldo’s goalscoring record is undeniable, his suitability for Arsenal’s system and his age raise questions. Although a prolific scorer throughout his career, it’s worth noting that Ronaldo’s form dipped before his exit from Manchester United last season.
Only time will tell if Arteta will address Arsenal’s attacking woes through transfers or look for solutions within his current squad.
