Cristiano Ronaldo Wins Legal Battle Against Juventus for Unpaid Wages
What Happened?
Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese football star, successfully sued his former club Juventus over unpaid wages. The dispute stemmed from deferred salaries during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In March 2020 and April 2021, The Old lady players, including Ronaldo, agreed to postpone receiving a portion of their salaries to help the club cope with financial difficulties brought on by the pandemic. However, individual agreements were also made with each player.

Ronaldo sought £17.15 million ($21.3 million) in deferred wages, and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 39-year-old has won his case against the Italian giants.
Financial Implications for Juventus
The report states that Juventus hadn’t budgeted for this expense, and it’s unclear if other players will follow Ronaldo’s lead. This scenario could pose a significant financial challenge for the club, nicknamed “The Old Lady.”
Paulo Dybala, a forward for Roma, reached a similar agreement with the Italian club in 2023, receiving approximately £2.6 million ($3.2 million) in owed wages.

Ronaldo’s Move and Upcoming Matches
After joining Juventus from Real Madrid in 2018, Ronaldo went on to score an impressive 101 goals in 134 appearances across all competitions. Following a return stint at Manchester United, he now plays for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

While Juventus grapples with this legal defeat, Ronaldo’s focus shifts to his current team. Al-Nassr will face Al-Feiha in the Saudi Pro League on Friday, followed by a match against Al-Khaleej on April 27th.
