According to reports Jose Mourinho is set to return to management after holding contract talks with a Turkish club.

Mourinho has been offered an opportunity to return to management by Turkish club Besiktas.

The 61-year-old manager has been unattached since being sacked by AS Roma in January. He has been linked with several top European clubs recently, indicating his readiness for a swift return to the dugout.

While Mourinho has shown interest in a dream return to Manchester United, it seems more likely he will end up elsewhere in Europe.

Besiktas vice-president Huseyin Yucel revealed to Sports Digitale, via Football Italia, that the club has already held talks with the former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager. The proposal includes reuniting Mourinho with Ricardo Quaresma, a player he previously fell out with at Inter Milan.

“We contacted Jose Mourinho a month ago and he welcomed our offer. We already resolved the economic details and will go to Italy next week so we can meet face to face. If we reach an agreement with Mourinho, then we will recommend he include Ricardo Quaresma in the staff,” he said, as per The Mirror.

Intriguingly, Fenerbahce also holds an interest in Mourinho, potentially setting up a battle between the Turkish Super Lig clubs for his signature. Fenerbahce currently sits second in the Super Lig table, while Besiktas is in fifth place.

Mourinho, a two-time Champions League winner, was sacked by Roma just months after reaching the Europa League final, having failed to meet expectations in Serie A.
