Joe Cole Urges New Chelsea Boss Maresca to Keep Gallagher
With Enzo Maresca reportedly on the verge of being announced as the new Chelsea manager, former Chelsea player Joe Cole has issued a plea to the incoming boss.
Maresca Expected to be Unveiled as New Manager

Following Mauricio Pochettino’s surprising departure at the end of the season, Chelsea has identified Maresca, the architect of Leicester City’s impressive Championship title win last season, as their preferred replacement.
The Italian manager, who enjoyed a successful Serie A career as a player, will be tasked with reviving a Chelsea side that finished a disappointing sixth place in the Premier League, despite a late surge of five consecutive wins.
Joe Cole Advocates for Gallagher’s Retention

Cole, a Chelsea veteran of seven years, believes Maresca should prioritize keeping midfielder Conor Gallagher at the club.
Chelsea has reportedly listed Gallagher for sale due to financial regulations, but Cole argues that his value extends beyond the financial aspects.
Speaking to talkSPORT Cole stated: “If I were talking to the Chelsea owners, I’d tell them Conor is arguably the most important player in the dressing room.”
Cole highlights Gallagher’s dedication and leadership qualities, especially during challenging periods for the club.
He added: “He understands the club. During tough times, you see a player’s worth, and Conor was always there, available, and driving the team forward. Keeping him is vital for the club. Financials are beyond me, but purely on footballing merit, he’s among the top three most important players.”
With Chelsea navigating financial restrictions, Cole’s plea puts Maresca in a difficult position. The new manager will have to decide whether Gallagher’s on-field contributions outweigh the potential financial benefits of a sale.
