According to reports, Arsenal have informed Napoli that they would not be meeting Victor Osimhen’s hefty €130 million (£110.8 million) release clause.
Victor Osimhen’s transfer hangs in balance
Napoli are keen on selling Osimhen, but Club President Aurelio de Laurentiis is waiting for a club ready to activate the €130 million clause. However, there has been no official bid for the former Lille striker, despite reports of interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Chelsea.
Also, Osimhen was identified as a possible target for the Gunners, as Mikel Arteta is eager to add a new striker to his team after falling just short of the Premier League title the previous season.
Sports Buddy previously reported that club legend Emmanuel Petit urged the Gunners to sign the 26-year-old striker, who would guarantee at least 30 goals a season.
However, his price tag seems to be the main obstacle to a summer move, as Arsenal are looking for alternatives elsewhere, with Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko on their radar.
Chelsea, who were also interested in signing the Napoli striker, have withdrawn from the race due to his hefty transfer fee and his injury problems. According to reports, they are also in the race to sign Sesko, following the Serbian’s impressive performances for the German side last season.
