Following Micheal Olise’s snub, Chelsea are getting close to acquiring Barcelona youngster Marc Guiu, according to sources in Spain.
The 18-year-old striker scored twice in seven games in all competitions after making his first team debut in 2023–24.
According to Marca, the striker appears to have played his final game for the Catalan giants as he is close to signing with Chelsea.
In order to get Guiu, the Blues have activated his £5 million release clause to beat Bayern Munich in pursuit of the talented youngster.
According to reports, Hansi Flick’s team believe Guiu has a lot of promise and tried to work out a new contract with him. However, they couldn’t come to an agreement until Chelsea made him a “unbeatable” offer.
Chelsea activate Guiu’s release clause
Reports state that Guiu has had several conversations with new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who plans to have the young player in his first team next season.
Guiu thinks the Premier League is a good fit for his style of play and is drawn to the Blues’ youth initiative.
The 18-year-old attacker made his professional Barcelona debut under Xavi in a 1-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao in October of last year, where he scored with his second touch after coming in as a sub.
