Manchester United were told by the Lazio president Claudio Lotito that they are signing a striker who is 10 times better than Greenwood Sportsbuddy.ng reports.
Lazio made an attempt to sign Greenwood on loan during the summer transfer window but this could not be possible due to some paper work complications.
Greenwood instead signed for Getafe, for which he won the ‘Player of the Season’ trophy. United are now reportedly willing to sell Greenwood for £40 million.
Lazio’s Bid Rejected
Lazio tabled €20 million (£16. 9m) plus a 50% sell-on clause for Greenwood, but United snubbed it. Greenwood is now at Manchester but he will not be part of the team that Erik ten Hag is preparing for pre-season. It is said that Marseille has nearly secured his signing.
Lotito’s Comments and Future Plans
Lotito said that Lazio is no longer pursuing Greenwood because, “I had signed Greenwood last year. . .
‘He fell through due to a mismatch of an hour between the two markets and the facts proved me right because he then did well. “ Lotito also hinted at a new target, saying, “If I told you a name… that is worth 10 times more than Greenwood. ”
Greenwood’s charges were dropped in February 2023, but United received criticism over his possible return to work.
