Njinmah has disclosed that Nigeria Football Federation has been keeping him under watch with a view to inviting him into the Super Eagles. But he also dreams of being called up for the German national team.
Dual Eligibility
Njinmah was born in Hamburg, Germany, but he has Nigerian origin through his parents and this makes him eligible for the Super Eagles.
Werder Bremen’s 23-year-old forward had a stellar 2023-2024 season, scoring 6 goals and 2 assists in 24 Bundesliga matches.
However, Njinmah was out for the latter part of the season due to some fitness complications, but he has fully recovered to train and played in the first two pre-season friendly matches.
German National Team Aspirations
Njinmah was once targeted by the German Football Association prior to the 2024 European Championship but was dropped from the team maybe due to his injury.
According to other reports from SportsBuddy, Nigerian born player Adeleke Drake has recently joined the Citizens on scholarship and has been moved straight to the U18 team.
Considering Nigeria
Although Germany retains its main focus, Njinmah also recognizes the appeal to Nigeria. ‘I am monitored there too but i haven’t gotten an invite from them, if that happens, then we can weigh things up very carefully,’ he said.
Njinmah’s international future remains open, with both Germany and Nigeria as potential options. His decision will likely depend on the opportunities and developments in the coming months
