According to reports, Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal have joined the race to sign unsettled Manchester City star Julian Alvarez.
Sports Buddy previously reported that the World Cup winner requested to leave the Premier League champions, turning down a new four-year contract as well.
Alvarez, who joined Manchester City in 2022, was crucial for the Cityzens, scoring a total 36 goals in 103 appearances.
The 24-year-old is unhappy with his playing time and position as Erling Haaland’s backup, according to reports from The Athletic.
Alvarez as a perfect fit for Chelsea or Arsenal
With Chelsea and Arsenal in need of a striker, Alvarez could be a perfect fit, considering his abilities and young age.
City would not stop Alvarez from leaving, but a price of at least £70 million would be required for them to entertain a sale, according to Daily Mail
Alvarez is currently representing Argentina at the Olympics in Paris after making five appearances for the team during their victorious Copa America campaign this summer.
He’ll get a longer rest and won’t play when City kicks off the new season on August 10 against Manchester United in the Community Shield and August 18 away at Chelsea in the Premier League.
