Former City man Raheem Sterling scored for Chelsea before the half hour and Noni Madueke added a second towards the end.

First Half Action

An action-packed opening period began with Haaland scoring from the penalty spot for a foul by Levi Colwill.

A minute later, another poor touch by Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo led to the second goal by Haaland.

Jack Grealish was able to put pressure on Robert Sanchez, however City did not stop there.

Enzo Fernandez made the pass to Christopher Nkunku, but Stefan Ortega Moreno denied him the goal.

Before the break, Ortega Moreno quickly denied Nkunku and Fernandez almost scored an empty goal after a terrible clearance by the goalkeeper.

Second Half Highlights

City further pulled away in the lead before the first hour was up. Oscar Bobb scored after a Sterling mistake, and moments later, Haaland made it a hat-trick with the help of James McAtee.

Sterling scored a volley for Chelsea and Marc Guiu wasted a good opportunity.

McAtee fired a shot that hit the woodwork after turning Reece James inside out, while Ortega Moreno made another key save to deny Madueke, who eventually scored Chelsea’s second.

In a previous report from Sportsbuddy, Maresca addressed the penalty situation at Chelsea after an unpleasant incident between Nkunku and Madueke in their last game vs Club America.

Looking Ahead

McAtee post-hitting effort and Stefan Ortega Moreno’s saves could have contributed to raising the tally.

City’s 4-2 triumph sets them up nicely for next Saturday’s Community Shield final against Manchester United.
