Enzo Maresca will be bringing a new level of discipline to Chelsea this season starting with defining the penalty taker for the team.
Unlike his predecessor, Enzo Maresca expects his players to follow his decisions without question.
Incident During Friendly Against Club América

The problem emerged during the friendly match against Club América on Wednesday night.
Noni Madueke insisted on being the one to take the penalty as he clutched the ball as if he was guarding the taker of the penalty.
Similar incident happened last term as reported by Sportsbuddy when a scuffle broke out between Chelsea teammates Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke on Monday night, creating a tense moment during their dominant 6-0 win over Everton at Stamford Bridge
Enzo Maresca’s Decisive Approach
Maresca said, “I have made my decision [as to who should take the penalty] and that is why Christo was the first to go for it”.
Noni was about to take the ball but I told Tosin to explain to Noni that it’s Christo who will take the penalty.
Noni left the ball and Christo took it. People may want to score but it is me who decides who takes the penalty.

He further elaborated, “I am going to say Noni or I am going to say another player. But I decide who is going to take the penalty.”
And for sure, when Cole [Palmer] is back because of last year and I know Cole is very good, for sure, he is the taker.
But Cole is not here so we decide for another one and Christo is the one. ”
Looking Ahead
The only confusion that was evident was that Madueke had to take the second penalty of the game, which had been won by Nkunku, but this is definitely the last time such a situation will happen.
