Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes has recently voiced his apprehensions regarding Manchester United’s preparation for the new Premier League season, especially about André Onana as a goalkeeper.
United are still searching for the form that placed them eighth in the previous season, which was the club’s worst performance in the Premier League, although they won the FA Cup by beating Manchester City in the final.

Paul Scholes Concerns Over Onana
Notably, Scholes has been especially critical of Onana who signed for the Red Devils from Inter Milan in the previous summer for £ 47 million.
His apprehension is based on Onana’s performances in pre-season, where he conceded goals that have raised questions about his reliability.
Onana was signed to replace David de Gea mainly because of his prowess in using the ball, which complements the tactics used by manager Erik ten Hag, who loves creating build-up play from the back.
These vulnerabilities doesn’t worry Onana who has promised Man Utd fans he would be taking more risks this season as reported by Sportsbuddy.
Worries About the Squad
These worries are not limited to the goalkeeper, according to Scholes.

Speaking to The Overlap, he enumerated the injury concerns within the defensive line; new arrival Leny Yoro is out of action, while there are fitness questions marks about some important defenders Lisandro Martínez, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelöf, and Raphaël Varane.
Optimism and Caution

Although many United fans are upbeat about the new season, particularly after the signings of Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee, Scholes is still wary.
He admits the joy that comes with the team but cannot afford to be as optimistic due to the numerous problems within the squad.
When United play their first match in the English Premier League against Fulham on August 16, the focus will again be on Onana and whether he will be able to shed the doubts that are surrounding him to assist United perform better than they did last season.
