After a 14-month absence from professional football, former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has made a notable return to the sport by signing with Serie A side Fiorentina.
The former Manchester United player stayed away from football for quite some time now and recently in an interview he said that he is looking forward to this new venture in Italy.

The Challenge of Inactivity
According to GIFN, De Gea admitted the ordeals he went through during his time off from football saying that he did everything he could to ensure that he remained in good shape for a possible comeback.
Nonetheless, the 33-year-old continued training like he was preparing for a match, thinking that he would soon be able to return to the pitch.
“It’s true I haven’t played, but I haven’t been idle: De Gea said: “I trained because I knew I would come back one day I trained hard even if I was alone. ”
“I never thought of retiring: I played 12 years in a very important club like United, and my heart will always be there. However, it was very hard for me to make myself get ready for a new challenge.
Why David de Gea Chose Fiorentina Over Other Offers

For his part, De Gea said that he received many offers, including a contract offer from Genoa, but nothing came to fruition as reported by Sportsbuddy.
However, it was Fiorentina’s interest that made him focus on them, making the negotiation process as short as possible.
The fact that the goalkeeper wanted to be in the Serie A team contributed to his decision to join Fiorentina because he felt that he could help the team a lot.
I had many offers… but I wanted to be in Serie A. Fiorentina contacted with Alessandro Ferrari and Daniele Pradè, and after that processes were very fast. De Gea said: ‘Honestly, I have always believed that going to Fiorentina is the best option. ’
