Football fans are expressing their disappointment after UEFA has revealed that the Champions League anthem will be changed for the upcoming season together with the new format of the league.

The original anthem, composed by Tony Britten in 1992 and inspired by George Frideric Handel’s 1727 piece “Zadok the Priest” .

However, one has to question the decision, particularly when referring to the proverb “if it is not broken, do not try to fix it,” UEFA has opted to modify the beloved anthem by speeding up the tempo, emphasizing vocals, and reducing percussion.

Many fans have also complained on social media platform about such changes.

Others criticized the new version for losing the grandeur and drama that made the original so special, with one fan describing it as “too trumpety and deflated.”

The Champions League draw is expected to happen on Thursday the 29th of August just a day before Premier League transfer deadline day kicks in.
