According to reports, Arsenal’s new signing, Mikel Merino, has suffered a freak injury during his first training session.
The 28-year-old Spaniard is expected to be sidelined for several weeks with a fractured shoulder following a collision with teammate Gabriel.
Arsenal boss Arteta confirms injury

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta confirmed as quoted by The Sun, “It is unfortunate. Yesterday he had a collision and he got a shoulder injury.
“It looks as though he could be out for a few weeks. It was his first session.
“We were all very excited and everything was looking good but he landed on the floor and has a small fracture.
“He was in so much pain and we have to wait and see and do more tests.
“This is football. We have tried to do all the things we wanted.”
Merino joined the Gunners from Real Sociedad in a £32.6 million deal to strengthen their midfield options.

Manager Mikel Arteta was eager to bolster his engine room and viewed the Euro-winning Spain international as an ideal fit.
Merino is Arsenal’s third signing of the summer, bringing their total spending to just over £100 million. The club previously signed David Raya for £27 million and Riccardo Calafiori for £42 million.
