Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard was sent off in the first half of their match against Manchester City, leaving Mikel Arteta’s side reeling.
The winger received a second yellow card in a chaotic end to the first 45 minutes at the Emirates Stadium.
Trossard was already on a yellow card for pulling Savinho’s shirt when he collided with Bernardo Silva in stoppage time and then kicked the ball away, with the Premier League later confirming that the second yellow was for delaying the restart, as per Fabrizio Romano on X.
Arsenal had been leading 2-1 at the time, having turned the match around with goals from Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel. However, Trossard’s dismissal provided a disappointing end to the half and meant Arsenal would have to play the second half with ten men.
This comes after Declan Rice was sent off for a similar offense against Brighton three weeks ago, which sparked reactions from the Gunners fans, who felt the decision was quite harsh.
Arsenal fans react to Leandro Trossard’s red card

They have now reacted in similar fashion to the Belgian’s sending off.
”Best league in the world. Worst refs in the world,” one wrote on social media, reacting to the red card.
”Doku kicked the ball away and prevented Arsenal from taking a quick free-kick 20 minutes before. Where’s the yellow card?,” another one wrote, pointing out the inconsistency as it was claimed City’s Jérémy Doku escaped being punished for same offennse.
”I am convinced now. They don’t want Arsenal to win the league,” a third wrote.
The Belgian will now miss Arsenal’s next match against Leicester City due to suspension.
