Vincent Kompany reveal secret behind Bayern Munich’s flawless win at Werder Bremen, showering praises on all his players for their collective performance as the host attempted no shot at the Bayern Munich goal in the 5-0 win on Saturday afternoon.
The Bundesliga leaders extended their lead at the summit after putting five unreplied goals past their host, setting a new record for most goals scored by a German team after their opening six games of the season in history.
With 16 goals in four league games, nine in one Champions League game and four in the DFB Pokal, Vincent Kompany’s side has produced 29 goals so far, making them a force to reckon with on the back of their lowest season in recent years.
Their impressive win over Werder Bremen saw them leave nothing to their humbled host, who generated an expected goal of 0.00 having failed to attempted a single shot in the entirety of the game.
Vincent Kompany reveal secret behind Werder Bremen 0.00 xG
Vincent Kompany was full of praise for his players after the match. When asked the secret behind them restricting their opponent to 0.00 xG, he replied:
“I’m humble enough as a coach to give credit to the players. I was in a position last season [at Burnley] where we played against teams with much better players, clubs much wealthier. If top players run and fight for each other then that’s a big part of the job. There’s of course an idea behind everything we do. But this [0.00 xG] was possible because the guy who scored two goals [Olise] was running for his teammates. It was because the guy who scored 11 or 12 goals this season [Kane] was running for the team. Coman, Gnabry, Sané, everyone was running for the team. We do it together. I’m realistic enough to give the credit to the players and they deserve it today”
Bayern Munich temporarily establish a three-point gap lead on the Bundesliga summit before other games kickoff on Sunday, when close rivals Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig will be in action.
