The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has instituted the NFF Monthly Awards to reward the best of the locally-based football talents irrespective of the league they are playing in, including the Nigeria Premier Football League.
During the football season, awards will be issued to players best in performances each month of the season.
Sections and Voting System of the Awards
The awards will feature three key categories: Having recognised these achievements, new awards emerged, such as Player of the Month (male and female), Goal of the Month, and Discovery of the Month.
The NFF has put much consideration into using statistic-based nominations, with an independent organisation assessing players’ statistics to avoid bias.
The fans will be incorporated into the voting process through the official NFF portal and will be entitled to provide 40% of the final input.
The other sixty percent will be chosen by journalists and experts in football.

Announcements of the first award nominations were on the 3rd of October, 2024, and the voting was to end at midnight on the 7th of October.

The NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, opined that the idea is going to improve Nigerian football since it will push more players to show their best on the field, besides improving relations between players and fans.
This new platform presents an expectation to connect the football community and present the best of talents the country has to offer.
