Manchester United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has come out to address Erik Ten Hag’s position as the club manager following a series of disappointing results.
With their latest disappointment coming on Thursday evening in a 3-3 draw to Fc Porto, United’s various challenges are evident by performances such as a goalless draw with Crystal Palace, a draw with FC Twente, and a heavy defeat to Tottenham.
Their only victory in the past few games is the Carabao Cup against Barnsley, which has done little to ease fan frustrations.
Inexplicably, as tensions increased, Ratcliffe was quizzed on an interview with the BBC over his trust in Ten Hag.
Ratcliffe’s Cautious Approach to Ten Hag’s Role
Ratcliffe remained measured by saying, “I do not wish to answer that question.” I like Erik, and I think he is very competent in what he does. However, it is not my call to make the last decision.
It’s up to the management team overseeing Manchester United to figure out how to run the club most effectively.”
He also touched on the new management team in the club, which was recently formed with the approval of CEO Omar Berrada and sporting director Dan Ashworth.
“They only started in July and weren’t involved earlier in the year. They’ll need time to evaluate things and make thoughtful decisions.”

Looking Ahead to Aston Villa
Manchester United’s long-term target remained unchanged, according to Ratcliffe: “Our aim remains resolute—to return United to its rightful place among the world elite, but we are not there yet.”
As United prepares for their next match against Aston Villa this weekend, they will be looking for a crucial win to ease the pressure and restore some much-needed confidence.
