Remo Stars striker Franck Mawuena has been called up to the Togolese squad for this month’s 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
The 31-year-old striker has been in red-hot form since signing for the Nigerian based club from Dynamic Togolaise in 2023, scoring five goals in 13 NPFL appearances last season to win the Foreign Player of the season award this year.

Mawuena will join The Sparrowhawks squad selected by coach Paulo Duarte for the games against Algeria this month.
Mawuena scored his first goal of the season away to Kano Pillars last month and will be looking forward to helpling the Ikenne Sky Blues continue their winning run when they face Kwara United later on Sunday.
The striker was one of Remo Stars‘ goalscorers in the 3-2 defeat last season in Kwara, the other being Dayo Ojo, who departed the club at the end of last season.
Mawuena will hope to inspire the team to a win this time as he will miss out in the game against Nassarawa United next weekend in the Nigerian Premier Football League.
Mawuena will also hope to make his international debut as he faces tough competition for minutes, with regular international also returning to represent the country.
