With Neymar’s departure, Barcelona’s intention was to fill the void by acquiring Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool. The brazilian midfielder arrived with a proven track record of creativity, long range goals, and versatility.
But Coutinho wasn’t able to adapt to Barcelona’s system and began to underperform. Later that year, he was loaned out to Bayern Munich where he found success and won the champion league contributing a goal in the Bayern Munich memorable 8-2 win against Barcelona.
Despite the mixed outcomes, Coutinho’s transfer will always be a notable moment in football history and one of the richest football transfers.
