Nigerian striker Edna Imade has officially joined Bayern Munich Women’s team.
The 24-year-old forward sealed a long-term deal with the German giants, tying her future to the club until June 2029.
But instead of joining her new teammates in Germany, Bayern has immediately loaned her out to Spanish side Real Sociedad.
Imade could hardly contain her joy after the deal was announced. She told Bayern’s media team that joining the historic club felt like a major turning point in her football career.
She noted that playing for a team like Bayern shows that all her years of hard work are beginning to pay off.
The Nigerian star said she’s ready to contribute wherever the team needs her, describing herself as a forward who can play both down the middle and on the wings.
She added that her biggest strengths include heading, finishing, and working hard for the team.
Bayern’s director of women’s football, Bianca Rech, spoke highly of the new signing. She noted that Imade’s pace, power, and attacking flexibility make her a great fit for the team’s long-term plans.
Rech explained that the decision to loan her out immediately is part of a strategy to help her develop even further.
Imade arrives at Bayern after an explosive season with Granada in the Spanish Liga F. She scored 16 goals in 29 league matches, finishing as the joint second top scorer alongside Barcelona’s Alexia Putellas.
Her performance earned her the Player of the Month award in December and a spot in the Liga F Team of the Season.
Before joining Granada, she played for Malaga and quickly built a reputation as a lethal forward.
