Chinwendu Ihezuo has sent a clear message to opponents at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations as she continues her impressive goal scoring form for the Super Falcons.
After scoring her third goal in Nigeria’s 5-0 win over Zambia, she says she wants to keep scoring until the Super Falcons win the trophy at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Ihezuo, who plays in Mexico for Pachuca Femenil, found the net just before the first half ended.
Speaking after the match, the forward said that she is hungry for more, adding that helping the team win is all that matters.
“I thank God for the goal and for the win,” she said with joy. “When I scored, I was very happy. I want to keep scoring and help the team go far.”
Born and raised in Ajegunle, Lagos, Ihezuo has come a long way. She has played football in China, Kazakhstan and now Mexico, but says nothing compares to playing for Nigeria. Her passion for the team shows in every game.
As the Super Falcons prepare for the semifinal match on Tuesday, Ihezuo says the team is ready for the challenge. She believes they have what it takes to win the competition.
“My spirit is strong. We are not giving up. We want to make Nigeria proud,” she added. “I also thank my teammates. Everyone is working hard.”
So far, she has scored five goals in total for the Super Falcons, and she is aiming to score even more before the final whistle of the tournament.
