Manchester United are set to announce the signing of Brentford’s top forward Bryan Mbeumo after the 25-year-old completed the second part of his medical.

He signed a five-year deal with the Red Devils with an option to extend his contract for an extra year.

With this, he will now fly out to join the squad in the United States ahead of their summer matches, with their first game against West Ham in New Jersey on July 27.

Sources say the deal could rise to £71 million. Brentford rejected two earlier offers of £55 million and £62.5 million before finally agreeing to a £65 million fee plus £6 million in bonuses. Mbeumo had interest from Tottenham and Newcastle but made it clear that he wanted to wear the red shirt.

The pacey winger scored 20 goals last season in the Premier League. His strong form and ability to play in several forward roles made him a key target for manager Ruben Amorim. The club believes he will fit perfectly into their system, especially on the right side of attack.

Mbeumo will wear the number 19 shirt at Old Trafford. That number has been worn in the past by big names like Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo, and Raphaël Varane. It also matches the number he used at Brentford and for Cameroon.

This transfer becomes United’s third big signing this summer after Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon. The squad is slowly taking shape ahead of the new season, as United try to recover from a poor 15th-place finish last term.
