Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, on Thursday, named his 23-man squad for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN), kicking off on August 2. The tournament will be hosted jointly by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Young talents like Anas Yusuf and Ijoma Anthony were included as well, signaling a blend of experience and fresh energy in the squad.
Among the top picks is team captain Junior Harrison Nduka, joined by experienced names like striker Godwin Obaje and defender Sikiru Alimi. Goalkeeper Henry Ozoemena Ani also made the list, along with midfielders Alex Oyowah and Hadi Haruna.
The final team was selected after several intense weeks of training at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne, Ogun State. With preparations now complete, the players are expected to fly out of Nigeria on Thursday night. Their next stop is Zanzibar, where the team will begin a second round of training.

From July 25 to 31, the Super Eagles B will fine-tune their tactics in Zanzibar. Two friendly matches have already been arranged against the island’s national side. These matches, scheduled for July 28 and July 31, are expected to help the squad test their strength and shape their strategy ahead of the tournament opener.
Nigeria, who won bronze in 2014 and were runners-up in 2018, will face a tough group challenge this time around. Placed in Group D, they will go head-to-head with defending champions Senegal, Congo, and Sudan.
Their first two group games will take place at Amman Stadium in Zanzibar before they travel to Dar es Salaam for their final match at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
