Victor Osimhen is expected to be unveiled by Galatasaray during their upcoming friendly match against Lazio. The Turkish club is planning a special event to present the Nigerian striker to supporters at RAMS Park on Saturday, August 2.
This comes as the final steps of his €75 million transfer from Napoli are being wrapped up. Galatasaray Vice President Abdullah Kavukcu is heading to Italy to complete the paperwork and return with the 26-year-old forward.
Return of a Key Player
Osimhen spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Galatasaray, where he became one of the club’s most important players.
In 41 appearances, he scored 37 goals and provided 8 assists. His efforts helped Galatasaray win both the league and cup titles, quickly making him a fan favorite.
Despite receiving a massive €160 million offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, Osimhen decided to stay with the Turkish champions. His decision has made him even more loved by Galatasaray fans.
This deal is one of the biggest in Turkish football history. Galatasaray will pay €40 million upfront, while the remaining €35 million will be settled by 2026.
Napoli will also receive 10 percent of any future sale, and there is a two-year rule that stops Osimhen from returning to Serie A immediately.
Record Breaking Transfer
This move makes Osimhen the most expensive player ever signed by Galatasaray and the costliest transfer in Turkish football. It also ranks as one of the biggest sales in Napoli’s history.
Before choosing Galatasaray, Osimhen had been linked with top European clubs including Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea. His decision to stay in Istanbul has surprised many across the football world.
Fans will be eager to see Osimhen wear the red and yellow shirt again, especially after missing some preseason games, including the 3-1 win over Cagliari.
