Serbian swimmer Lazar Dukic, tragically passed away during a swimming competition at the 2024 CrossFit Games in Texas.
The 28-year-old submerged himself but failed to resurface during the Thursday morning competition at Marine Creek Lake in Fort Worth.

Organisers issue statement after swimming tragedy
CrossFit released a statement on X expressing their sincere condolences for the unfortunate event, which read:
“We are devastated by the passing of Lazar Dukic. Our hearts are with Lazar’s entire family, friends, and fellow athletes.”

The organization also reaffirmed its complete cooperation with the authorities and promised to assist the family during this trying period.
Dukic was a well-known athlete who ranked third in Serbia and 88th globally. Not very long before, he had emerged as the as the winner in the European CrossFit semifinal.

CrossFit canceled all events for the remainder of Thursday due to the unfortunate tragedy, but Friday’s competition is anticipated to go off as planned.
