The big-spending Blues made a significant investment in 2022, acquiring French international defender Wesley Fofana from Leicester City for a hefty fee of £70 million.
However, Fofana has been sidelined since July due to reconstruction surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament. Despite the setback, the 22-year-old resumed light training in November, raising hopes of a return to match action before the end of the season.
Fofana even shared a photo of himself training along with a caption on Instagram that read: “Back on track.”
But any hopes of Fofana returning to the Chelsea side over the next two months now appear to have been dashed by manager Pochettino.
As per thesun, When asked about Fofana’s return ahead of today’s Premier League trip to Brentford, he said: “Unfortunately I think it is difficult to see him [again this season].”
Fofana missed 15 top-flight games during his first season at Stamford Bridge due to a knee injury.
He also missed most of the 2021/22 campaign with a broken leg while at Leicester.
And his latest setback comes amid yet more injury misery for Pochettino.

Cyrine had previously shared a snap of the couple about to kiss on the steps as they boarded a private jet.
And another photo showed the successful Frenchwoman being lavished on a past Valentine’s Day with roses and handbags.
In fact, the sole posts left from their wedding day and other special events only come up in the tagged sections of their profiles.
In other words, they can only be seen if other people have posted them.
The pair, both from Marseille, used to love posting glitzy shots together – until the latest development.
For example, Cyrine was snapped in a sleeveless mini-dress and her husband in a white suit at a Louis Vuitton show last summer.
