Cardiff City FC have confirmed the signing of Nigerian defender Gabriel Osho from Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre. The 27-year-old centre-back joins the Bluebirds on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.
Osho, who has been previously monitored by the Super Eagles of Nigeria, brings both Premier League and European experience to the Welsh capital.
As reported by Sport buddy, The 27-year-old defender received his first invitation to join the Nigerian squad in March 2024
Career Journey So Far

A product of Reading’s academy, Osho moved to Luton Town in 2020, where he played a key role in their promotion to the Premier League in the 2022/23 season. He made 21 top-flight appearances the following year, scoring twice, including a memorable goal against Arsenal.
Earlier in his career, he enjoyed a loan spell at Rochdale, working under current Cardiff manager Brian Barry-Murphy. Their strong connection has now been rekindled in South Wales.
After a season in France with Auxerre, Osho has returned to England, becoming Cardiff’s second signing of the summer transfer window following the arrival of goalkeeper Nathan Trott.
Osho Excited for New Chapter

Speaking to Cardiff City TV, Osho expressed his delight at the move:
- I’m really happy and excited. It’s been a long time in the works, so to finally be here feels great. Brian played a big part in my decision, our relationship from Rochdale was a big factor.
- I’ve been watching the games and the atmosphere here is amazing. Hopefully I can feed off the momentum and help the team with clean sheets and wins.”
With his defensive qualities and leadership, Osho is expected to be a key addition as Cardiff push for success in the 2025/26 Championship season.
