The NFF has announced the vacancies in the coaching roles held by Jose Peseiro and Nduka Ugbade.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially opened the coaching position for the Super Eagles, concluding negotiations for a contract extension with Jose Peseiro, according to reports from Soccernet.ng.
Additionally, the coaching role for the Nigerian under-17 national team, previously occupied by former Super Eagles player Nduka Ugbade, is now vacant.
The departure of the former Venezuelan manager from the Super Eagles was marked by a farewell message on his social media platform following the expiration of his contract with the NFF.
Despite successfully leading the Nigerian national team to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Jose Peseiro faced disagreements over salary terms.
Peseiro contract situation
Despite an improved offer of $80,000 from the NFF, it did not meet the coach’s expectations, ultimately leading to his departure.
Meanwhile, Nduka Ugbade encountered difficulties in securing a U-17 World Cup ticket for his team, failing to meet the NFF’s expectations. As a result, the federation is actively seeking a new manager for the role.
The Super Eagles coaching position has garnered interest from several candidates, including Emmanuel Amuneke, Augustine Eguavoen, Samson Siasia, and Finidi George.
As the Super Eagles are set to face El Salvador later this month, the NFF is actively working to appoint a caretaker manager for the upcoming international friendly.
