Richard Keys has criticized Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, labeling him a “disgrace” for his post-match interview with beIN Sports following the draw with Liverpool.
Despite Manchester City taking the lead in the top-of-the-table clash, Guardiola faced challenges with Ederson’s injury and a dispute with Kevin De Bruyne‘s substitution.
Richard Keys explosive attack on Pep
Keys expressed his dissatisfaction with Guardiola’s attitude in the interview, accusing him of rudeness and providing only one-word answers with a dismissive demeanor.
Keys, who works as beIN’s lead presenter, highlighted Guardiola’s consistent behavior in recent post-match interviews, describing it as disrespectful to reporters doing their job.
In a blog post by Richard Keys, Keys stated, “Guardiola was a disgrace. He couldn’t be bothered. He offered nothing – just one-word answers and a daft smile. He looked at Kerr like he was a piece of s*** on his shoe.” Keys suggested to his bosses that beIN should stop interviewing Guardiola, emphasizing the need for mutual respect between managers and journalists.
He added, “Andy Kerr deserved better Sunday, not because you have a contractual obligation to speak to him – but because you have a moral obligation to treat him – and others – with manners and respect.” While Keys acknowledged that his proposal to stop interviewing Guardiola was rejected, he argued that exploring such a course of action would be justified.
Guardiola’s perceived lack of courtesy in interviews has been a recurring issue for Keys, who believes that good manners should be a fundamental aspect of the interaction between managers and journalists.
