Arsenal’s Gabriel Forced to Withdraw from Brazil Squad Due to Injury.
Arsenal’s defensive stalwart, Gabriel, has been compelled to withdraw from the Brazil squad due to an undisclosed injury.
The centre-back, who has been a linchpin for the Gunners this season alongside William Saliba, showcased his defensive prowess in Arsenal’s recent Champions League triumph over Porto as reported by SportsBuddy.
Despite his pivotal role in Arsenal’s success, Magalhaes’s hopes of representing Brazil in upcoming friendlies against England and Spain have been dashed.
Gabriel Magalhaes dropped by Brazil
Head coach Dorival Junior conveyed the unfortunate news, citing Magalhaes’s omission and the subsequent call-up of Juventus’ Gleison Bremer as a replacement.
“Unfortunately, Magalhaes is uncalled. In his place, we are calling [Gleison] Bremer, from Juventus Turin, from Italy,” Junior stated.
However, the severity of Gabriel’s injury remains undisclosed.
Daily Mail reporter Sami Mokbel shed some light on the situation, suggesting that while the injury isn’t severe, it prompted a precautionary withdrawal. Gabriel has reportedly been managing a foot issue, which likely factored into the decision.
Despite his limited international experience, with only six appearances for Brazil since his debut last September, the Arsenal defender has been a consistent presence in their World Cup qualification campaign for the 2026 tournament. Notably, he netted a goal in a crucial 1-1 draw against Venezuela.
For Arsenal, his presence has been a mainstay in the lineup, featuring in 38 appearances across all competitions this season, starting in 36 of those matches.
His commanding presence in the backline has solidified his status as one of Mikel Arteta’s preferred options.
Although Gabriel’s absence will be felt by Arsenal, the club remains atop the Premier League table, level on points with Liverpool but leading via goal difference.
As the Gunners prepare to resume action after the international break, their focus shifts to a crucial clash against Manchester City, who trail them by just one point in the standings.
While Gabriel’s injury may necessitate a period of recovery, Arsenal’s aspirations for success remain undeterred as they navigate the final stages of the season.
