Roman Abramovich’s era could be compelled to release details of Chelsea financial results involving Marina Granovskaia
Roman Abramovich reign as Chelsea’s owner could be called into question by the current leadership over previous transactions.
As a Section 8 application under the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act has been submitted by agent Saif Rubie in his legal dispute with former Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia during Roman Abramovich’s tenure.
In an Exclusive from the DailyMail, The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed to Mail Sport that a hearing for this application is set for April 10 at Southwark Crown Court.
This development raises the possibility of The Blue’s current management being legally obligated to reveal information on past controversial deals, despite their lack of involvement in those transactions.
Chelsea suffers UEFA punishment
In July of last year, UEFA fined Chelsea £8.6 million and reprimanded them for submitting incomplete financial information spanning from 2012 to 2019, resulting in a breach of UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play regulations.
The blues addressed the UEFA charge by explaining that their ownership group discovered potentially incomplete financial reporting concerning historical transactions during the club’s previous ownership, upon completing the purchase of the club on May 30, 2022.
CFC promptly self-reported these findings to UEFA and cooperated with their investigation, resulting in a settlement agreement to pay €10 million (£8.6 million) as a fixed payment.
The UEFA charge prompted a Premier League investigation into several transactions during Roman Abramovich’s tenure, notably focusing on the signings of Willian and Samuel Eto’o from Anzhi Makhachkala.

More allegations on Roman Abramovich stint continued as allegations of payments to secretive offshore companies also surfaced. The blues emphasized that these allegations predated the club’s current ownership and concerned entities allegedly controlled by the former owner, with no connection to present club personnel.
