Chelsea has issued a fresh injury update as Mauricio Pochettino navigates through ongoing injury setbacks ahead of their Premier League clash with Everton at Stamford Bridge this weekend.
Chelsea’s season marred by injury woes under Pochettino
Pochettino’s debut season at the club has been plagued by various injury issues, with long-term absences of players like Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia, as well as significant spells on the sidelines for key figures such as Reece James and Christopher Nkunku.
As the Blues prepare to host Everton on Monday night, there is hope for the return of some sidelined players. Pochettino was expected to shed light on the statuses of Cole Palmer, who was substituted in the Sheffield United game last weekend, and Malo Gusto, who was absent altogether.
Latest injury update
However, neither Palmer nor Gusto featured in the club’s latest injury update released on Friday. Instead, Chelsea announced three new inclusions to the list.
Raheem Sterling is listed as ‘absent due to illness’, joining Robert Sanchez in this category. Additionally, Enzo Fernandez and Axel Disasi, who have collectively participated in 78 games this season, are marked as doubtful for the upcoming match.
“We’ll see. They are under assessment,” Pochettino said.
“They have different types of issues. We don’t believe they are big issues but we will see if they can be available.
“At the moment, they have not trained after Sheffield and that is why we don’t know,” he added, as per Football London.
Meanwhile Sports Buddy reported in recent news that Chelsea’s transfer ambitions have suffered a setback as reports indicate that Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is nearing a move to Paris Saint-Germain for a reported fee of €120 million (£103m/$129m).
