William Saliba’s International struggles: Gallas points to inconsistency
Former Arsenal defender William Gallas has weighed in on William Saliba’s struggles to break into the French national team.

Despite establishing himself as a top defender in the Premier League, Saliba hasn’t yet convinced France manager Didier Deschamps.
Deschamps favors experience over potential
Deschamps has preferred the likes of Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano over Saliba, sparking debate among fans. Gallas believes the competition is fierce, and Saliba’s own inconsistency might be holding him back.

Gallas: Earn your spot, Saliba
Gallas suggests Saliba can’t expect a guaranteed place on the national team. He needs to overcome his shortcomings and prove himself worthy of selection over the established options.
“Unfortunately, it’s difficult for William Saliba to be in the France eleven because you have Konaté and Upamecano,” he told GFFN. “Sometimes Saliba can be magnificent, but sometimes he can be a disaster as he’s not consistent.

“That’s why it’s a big problem for Didier Deschamps to know exactly who is going to be the number one, or the partnership at centre-back,” he said as per The Mirror.
Meanwhile, Sports Buddy previously reported that Didier Deschamps personally spoke about William Saliba’s limited playing time in a press conference during the recent international break. “He is having a good season, but he also does things that I don’t like so much,” the World Cup winner told reporters.
