Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has made a bold statement, predicting the next Ballon d’Or winner.
Ancelotti has endorsed Vinicius Junior as a potential Ballon d’Or contender, praising the Brazilian’s performance in the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich.
Ancelotti believes Vinicius is on the verge of earning the prestigious individual award. Madrid secured a spot in the Champions League final with a 2-1 victory in the second leg of the semi-final, advancing 4-3 on aggregate.
Alphonso Davies put the Bavarians ahead in the 68th minute before Joselu scored twice, late in the game, sending them to the Champions League final.
Ancelotti praises Vinicius’ outstanding performance
Following the game, Ancelotti praised the attacker’s performance.
“I don’t know. What he contributed in this semi-final can be contributed by very few. He will be the protagonist in the final, because what he did in the second leg is not something you see many times,” the Italian manager said.
“I believe Vini Jr. is on the verge of taking home the Ballon d’Or,” he added, as per Sportskeeda.
Vinicius Junior has been extremely productive this season, making 36 appearances across all competitions, scoring 21 goals, and dishing out 11 assists.
Meanwhile, Sports Buddy recently reported that Thomas Tuchel expressed strong dissatisfaction with the officiating in Bayern Munich’s Champions League semi-final clash against Real Madrid after his team was denied a late opportunity to level the score, which could have changed the outcome of the tie.
