Ezri Konsa also disclosed that his brother and families of other players were attacked by England fans after their underwhelming goalless draw with Slovenia through beer cups.
Some of the beer cups cups were thrown at the manager, Gareth Southgate, as he applauded the fans at RheinEnergieStadion.
Friends and families who were seated near them had to be drenched with flying drinks in reaction to England’s performance where the team managed to finish top of Group C with only two goals.
Focus on Safety
Aston Villa defender, Konsa, said the following: “Yes, we knew [that people were hit with drinks] because some of our family members got hit and are okay now… I saw and think ‘Are these kids okay?’ They’re in the stands, after all.”
Preparing for the Next Game
Konsa has not featured in the tournament yet but has been playing a crucial role in improving morale in the team as England build up for their last-16 showdown with Slovakia in Gelsenkirchen. “I just try to keep the spirits as high as possible,” he concluded.
Konsa is ready to step in at left-back if needed, noting his versatility: “I think, if the gaffer wishes to take me here, I shall do my best and will not spare a single effort.”
