Manchester City has completed the signing of the Arsenal striker Vivianne Miedema on a free transfer as she became a free agent Sportsbuddy.ng.
Miedema, the all-time WSL goalscorer, arrives at City after featuring for Arsenal for seven seasons in which she scored 80 League goals in 106 appearances.
She clinched the WSL title in the 2018/2019 season and three Women’s League Cups while at the Arsenal.
In May 2022, she extended her contract with Arsenal and made history by becoming the highest-paid female footballer in England.
Overcoming Challenges
Miedema’s journey has not been one devoid of struggles. In December 2022, she developed an anterior cruciate ligament tear, allowing her to feature in only 13 matches for Arsenal during the 2023/24 season.
Nevertheless, the 27 years old Dutch international continues working hard and has no doubt that her best years are yet to come. She wants to accumulate even more titles with Manchester City.

Ambitions With Man City
Miedema looked forward to joining Man City and believed that they shared the same goal as her, which is to win the league and titles.
“Moving to the future, I have always wanted to play with the best players in the world and I think City has them,” Miedema said.
Her goal when she joined City was to regain her best form and become a key player for the team. Miedema is set to sign for Manchester City by the end of July after featuring for Netherlands in Euro 2025 qualifiers against Italy and Norway.
She will wear the No. 6 jersey at City, where she will complement her team with intelligent positioning and a keen goal-searching ability.
Miedema said, “I am just really excited to be part of the team and for the girls to hopefully help me and get me back to my best. If I get back to my best again then we can achieve really nice things together. ”
