According to reports, Napoli and Chelsea have agreed a basic agreement for Romelu Lukaku, subject to Super Eagle’s striker Victor Osimhen’s future.
Lukaku continued his time away from Chelsea, even though he was registered with them, by playing in Serie A with Roma last season on loan after a falling out with former manager Thomas Tuchel.
Calcio Mercato reported that Chelsea had put a €38 million price tag on him and intended to sell him permanently.
The Belgian striker is well-liked by Antonio Conte, the new manager of Napoli, having previously worked with the 31-year-old striker during Inter Milan’s 2020-2021 league title-winning season.
According to the previously mentioned report, Napoli have made an attempt to sign Lukaku and have even struck a preliminary agreement with Chelsea for a sum that is reportedly less than the €30 million quoted; however, the deal is reportedly contingent upon Victor Osimhen leaving.
Victor Osimhen transfer situation
It’s no secret that the Nigerian striker wants to move on from Naples to another club, and the club gave him a contract, placing a release clause of €130 million on him.
However, this price-tag has turned away potential bidders, particularly because the striker is coming off a disappointing season marred by injuries.
Sports Buddy previously reported that several clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Paris Saint Germain and Manchester United showed interest in signing the 25-year-old striker; however, the deal failed to materialize.
According to a recent report, Napoli are open to letting him go for less than the release clause, but no non-Saudi team has yet to make a deal.
